Default Should I buy this car?

I have recently paid a deposit for my used bmw 530xi 2007 at a major car dealership. I was waiting for them to service my car before picking it up. But I was contacted today and told that my car's power-train and sensors(for the wheels) need to be replaced. Is the power-train a major part of the car. Is it too risky to purchase the car with a replaced power-train? There are 4000 more miles on the warranty. The power-train is an OEM part from bmw. Should I still buy this car?

do you live in the US? have you seen a carfax or autocheck report on the car? is it a certified BMW dealership?

the "powertrain" can be anything from the whole engine to the transmission to the rear differential depending on how they define the word. you may want to find out exactly what's being replaced and why.

honestly, something doesn't seem right.

yes I do live in the US. yes I have checked the carfax. The carfax shows no problems up until 2 months ago when the dealer purchased the car. The dealership is Majorworld used car dealers. I don't think they are certified by bmw. I am also not sure what part of the powertrain is being replaced. But it is a pretty large company. I have already paid the deposit and signed the bank papers for the car. Do you think i can still withdraw from the purchase? Thank you for your help.

if they told you they are going to replace parts of the car AFTER you already signed the paperwork you damn well should be able to cancel the purchase and get your deposit back. i wouldn't stand for it.
if you don't care about waiting for the parts to be changed or that they told you that after you signed some papers i guess stick with it?

i have no mechanical advice/info for you

They are probably changing the driveshaft donut. US cars have U-joints, but these european crap-balls have a rubber ring that attaches on the OUTSIDE of the driveshaft to take up vibration and allow movement. They all go out quickly... but seriously... don't buy it.
