Default 93-94 BMW 325i/320i Series for first car?

Is this a good idea? I really like these cars and I want to buy one for myself, this would be my first official car, belongs to me 100%. I found one for $4000, it has 300,000km on the body, and 142000km on the engine/tranny (?? dont know why he'd swap). But most I find over 200,000kms for under $5000, I consider it a good deal, these look like nice cars, but everyone says don't and get a japanese import.

oh, I didnt know they use $s in Canada...oops. I dont travel much. So I got my handy dandy KM to miles converter out and it looks like 300,000KM is about 186,000 miles. Too bad I dont know much about BMWs, sorry

well, im going to tell you.. it might seem like a good deal BUT you must go to a bmw dealership and get it checked out, what the do is like a saftey and you pay 1.5 hours and they run a computer scan and a check of the entire vehicle... what is most dangerous of the older bmw's they tend to have a very bad eletrical system.. but overall it dosent seem like to bad of a deal

Having many E36 BMWs, I think it would be a great car. It's like any other European car with a few quirks and some mechanics might try giving you a hard time when you take it in, but great car.

BMWs are bulletproof and probably the best built cars.
