Default How do you compare a BMW 328xi/328i to an Audi A4?

Hi all,

I've decided on 35K as my budget (meaning, inc. taxes and add-ons) for a new car and shortlisted the following (in order of pref):
1. BMW 328i OR 328xi
2. Audi A4 (or A3)
3. Lexus

I'm looking for a 4 dr sedan.

The sole purpose of my car is of course for driving. But having said that, I would also like a nice luxury car (not to mention enhance my status ) and hence I'm not going in for the Toyota Camry or H Accord.

As far as add-ons go, I'm looking only for a good Sound system, and perhaps metallic colour finish. I'm not too arsed about other things like the metallic spokes and fancy stuff on the dashboard. I don't mind the default leatherette too. Also don't care about Bluetooth and all, at least not for the next 2-3 years at least.

What I did like about the Audi for my taste is that it comes with BOSE audio system, and it's got iPod connection features.

Given my rather basic needs for going in for a luxury car, can the BMW fans on this forum convince me of the high points of a BMW that an Audi doesn't have?

We have a 328i and I really enjoy it.

As far as having somethin the Audi doesn't, I can't comment as I don't know the Audi well enough personally.

I can tell you that the 328i is a very very nice car, drives great, and is very classy.

The 328i is the better car but only if manual. I find the A4 2.8 auto/tiptronic to be more responsive than it's 328i auto rival.

correct me if i am wrong but isnt the 328xi all wheel? kind of hard to compare all wheel vs rear wheel. either way you go both are great cars i have driven both and IMO the 328 drives nicer the feel is a little more sporty.

also at 35k does that mean that your getting the 1.8t in the audi? if so thats a four cylinder vs 328 (3 series 2.8 v6). are you buying brand new?
