The high mileage oil actually helps because of the blends as far as filters go you can't go wrong with a delco or a wix becuase they prime fast. Wix is usually available at a local autoparts store.. not a chain.. something like a napa not autozone or murrays. Delco is still prefered.

With that many miles you want a 10W-30. WalMart sells synthetic blend $7.00 for 5 quarts or fully synthetic SuperTech for $12.88 for five quarts. Yup, half price of Mobil1 and it meets the same API specs. As for an oil filter, if you change the oil and filter every 5000 miles you'll do fine with the WalMart SuperTech filters made by Champion Labs and it has a very high filtration rating, in fact, one of the highest. Swing by WalMart and take a look see at their SuperTech filters box. OK, any body can tell you anything. However, if WalMart put that on their SuperTech filter boxes and it was not true then you would think one of the big filter makers would file a law suit. Friend of mine is a hunter with an older Ford 4 WD V8 F150 with 90K miles on it and he does not baby it a bit. Soooo? He changes the oil every 5000 miles and never used anything but walmart supertech oil and filters. So go figure.

If you'd like to read up on filters here is a great link I would like to share with you. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.html

Another super link here and a world of good info on additives and everything you want to know about engine oil. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

If you've ever wondered about those snake oil engine oil aditives, scroll down to, "What about additives," and get an additive education.

Okey-Dokey then chevyboy, hope all this helped and if I can be of further assistance just give a shout. YEE-HAW! Huney.

I use maxlife in mine 10w-30 used it in my brand new engines and my 142K motor now, I use a fram filter and prime it before i put it on, but i am a WIX filter person myself.
you can get wix at lee auto parts, parts plus stores, NAPA im not sure if they carry them or not, years ago they didnt and i just stayed with lee or parts plus or ordered a case from them mail order wise.
