Default Rear diff plug removal......

When a GM rear diff plug( side of the pumpkin) gets stripped out( the head where the 3/8" ratchet goes into....not the threads inside the pumpkin itself) how do you remove them? take apart the diff and go at it from the inside?

I can drill into it, and i do have screw extractors....But none big enough for this hole, and i havnt found big ones anywhere on the shelves.
Ive tried vise grips but that dont work at all( no room or leverage)

Id like to check my diff being I just got the car and the engine was sludged up and black.

use your smallest screw extractor and work up.

One of the first couple should break it loose but drill out the center of the 3/8 hex.
It should walk out for you.

Use lots of penetrating oil and if it gets stubborn even with the easy out tools.. try a little heat just on the plug itself

Good luck!
