Why dont they just put gills on it and any other neccessary body mods and call it a Stingray? SS should be for the cheaper performance cars.

A 600HP corvette from the factory is crazy. 0-60 in probably around 3flat and the 1/4mile at around 11.2-11.5

An update article:
------------------------

“Blue Devil†Corvette to be called Sting Ray?

The much-rumored “Blue Devil†Corvette will use the Sting Ray nameplate, according to AutoWeek. The $100,000 model is expected to offer a supercharged 7.0-liter 600-hp V8. Last month, GM’s head of performance cars Tom Wallace confirmed that the company will build the car. In January, Motor Trend claimed GM would use the Sting Ray name for a new Kappa-platform Chevrolet positioned above the Pontiac Solstice.

the idea of using the name for the vette is a hell of a lot better than using it on that chevy badged solstice model IMHO

Another update on the car:

From LLN:

Quote:
Blue Devil? Sting Ray? Z06.R? Z07? Name game continues…

The forthcoming $100,000 high-performance Corvette known internally at GM as the "Blue Devil" may go by the name Z06.R or Z07, according to Automobile magazine. In early June, AutoWeek reported that GM would use the Sting Ray name for the car, despite a Motor Trend claim that GM was planning a Kappa-platform Chevy by the same name. Automobile seems most confident in the Z07 name for the 650 horsepower car. The magazine also reports that GM will try to differentiate the vehicle from the Z06 with carbon fiber body panels and a "huge hood vent."
