Is a pump action typically more reliable than a semi-auto?

I've seen the 870 on an 18", i think. And I was thinking 12ga. w/ 000 buckshot.

Pump action=less mechanical parts. I would think it would be more reliable.

That may be a combat model. I'd LOVE to get a 590 military shotty. 12ga. Epic.Or any combat shotgun with 8-10 round tube. That would be titties.

870 comes in a combat model, IIRC. I know the 500-series does.

so...I just bought a Mossberg 500 from a gun show this morning for $300. Now...how about some ideas for accessories? I've got a TacStar side saddle on order already. Really want a light to go on the end but it seems like I cant even find one for over 200 and I really dont wanna pay more than 100. Maybe a sling? Do they make extenders to hold a couple more rounds? ideas?

plenty extenders, 7-9 shots.
pump is more reliable, but parts count has nothing to do with it, semi autos, may not cycle with low recoil rounds, my s\a 12 ga wouldn't reload with low recoils 2 3\4 shells, or flares, nor other low powered rounds,

it really doesn't matter, any one could be accurate up to 1min, between these 2 it isn't round that accurate or not, it is combination of bullet, powder.
every barrel likes certain ammo, it might shoot 1 min, groups with one brand, and 5 min groups with other. only testing your particular gun with many different loads will get you accuracy, google harmonic vibration, you'll see exactly what makes a gun accurate

accuracy and cost effectiveness don't go together, unless your definition of accuracy is a large paper plate at 100 yards, than any ammo and round is ok.
