    First time poster.

    I'm in the market for a new car and have been looking at an 05 Legacy 2.5I Sedan. The car I'm looking at has a 4 Cyl. 2.5L H4 SFI SOHC 16V engine. How does that compare to a V6 engine? Obviously I know the V6 has more power because it has 6 cylinders compared to 4, but I'm fairly naive when we get into the liters, H4 SFI SOHC and googling this stuff is impossible.

    it's a good car.

    what are you looking for in a vehicle? first off, the Subaru's have "boxer" engines, laid out in a flat configuration, as opposed to the two banks that connect to form a "V" in a V6.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    Personally, I'm not looking for much more than just having the ability to have quick acceleration when in traffic. Although I wouldn't be opposed to getting something that feels like it has some balls behind it.

    if you can afford the Legacy GT, its quite a car. Uses the same size 4 cyl motor as the 2.5i, but its turbocharged, so it creates nearly 100 more hp.

    As to your original questions:

    H4 = Horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine.

    SFI = not sure, believe it has to do with Fuel Injection

    SOHC = Single Overhead Camshaft
