I was wondering if anyone knew what MPH/KPH a donut tire spare is good to. I saw someone driving with one on the freeway and it just seemed like a bad idea. Does anyone know what they are good until?

I'm pretty sure they can withstand highway speeds just fine, freeway maybe, but definitely not high speed tires...

your not supposed to run on a donut tire for more than 30 miles. but they should do fine for highway driving its just not a good idea.

do a Google search for "donut tire"...

what what i've gathered(known), you're not supposed to drive any faster than 50 miles an hour. if you actually do drive it, you only drive straight to a site where you can have the damaged/deflated one repaired/replaced: home (where i have tools for it) or, most commonly, a tire shop.

the spare in my car is to be kept at 60psi.

Thanks...good info. I had to drive on my donut and I went straight to the tire shop and had them change it. They said its really hard on AWD cars. I drove it like a baby.

This reminds me of a Darwin Award for some Evo guy in Vegas. He street raced with his donut tire out at the illegals and not only did he lose but his car flipped. Some people are sooooooo stupid.

wish i had my camera when i saw major rice the other day: an early 90's civic hatch with low-pro 17" wheels on the front, and spare tires on the back.

    i couldn't stop laughing.

*edit* as far as i know, modern spare tires are good for 3000 miles at speeds up to 55 mph. however, check your manual and don't be stupid
For better mileage, adjust the nut behind the steering wheel.

There's an ass for every seat.

The one feature I really like about my dad's 2000 Jetta: full-size spare.
