Shutting off a turbo?

Well, I don't really like Eclipses, either, so I couldn't care less.

If you want a turbo car (WRX) without a turbo, buy the non-turbo version(Impreza 2.5RS/i/whatever other package).

you can hear a turbo. or at the very least the blow off valve

you can hear a turbo, period.

a good way to "shut off" the turbo is to keep it out of boost. a lot of turbo set ups don't make power until around/after 3k, if you keep it under then the turbo doesn't really spool and is just kind of an exhaust restriction
