Honda Recalls 1.5 Million Accords, CR-Vs and Elements to Reprogram Transmission Software

Honda is recalling about 1.5 million vehicles to make a software change to reduce the chance of automatic transmissions being damaged, the automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In a letter dated Wednesday, Honda told the safety agency that the affected vehicles were the 2005-10 Accord equipped with the 4-cylinder engine, the 2007–10 CR-V and the 2005–8 Element.

"In a separate statement released on Friday, Honda said a software update was needed to “ease the transition between gears” and reduce the likelihood that the transmission’s secondary shaft bearing would be damaged if the transmission were to be shifted quickly between reverse, neutral and drive. The automaker said such an operation would be typical if the vehicle were stuck in mud or snow."

funny because imo, the ford and chrysler recalls sound worse...by a bit
In life you have to do a lot of things you don't ****ing want to do. Many times, that's what the **** life is... one vile ****ing task after another. But don't get aggravated.... then the enemy has you by the short-hairs.

Yeah, the original article is I think from the new york times and they probably liked the whole 1.5 million thing better than an indeterminate amount of cars from ford or chrysler - sucks because at least honda is being forthright about things and trying to fix them before problems occur - Something I doubt the domestic car companies care too much about, unless they are going to lose money.

well the honda problem, they're only doing something to cover what many other companies would call abuse

ford's wheel studs fracturing and wheels coming off, or the gas tank straps rusting off the cars and the gas tanks not being supported. dodge with airbags that just go pop in your face with no accident!!

lol, but of course it's the import make that garnish's the most attention

Always - the media also hasn't paid too much attention to the fact that GM is planning on building plants in Europe, after the American taxpayers bailed them out to "save US jobs"
