I own a 2006 PT Cruiser Touring Edition. I have a cracked tail light assembly and it's been raining a lot lately. A little water got in my tail light and my bulb burnt out on the driver side. Shortly after I had no brake lights except for the one in the center of my back windshield. I do know the center bulb is out on that one and needs replaced. We have ruled out the brake switch, the ground, a short in the socket..... Does any one know what this could be!?

Um, that would be caused by the cracked tail light assembly. The water from the rain is contaminated, thus contaminating your bulb as well. Tail light bulbs are high intensity bulbs, so even the grease off of your bare thumb can cause the grease to cook up and pop the bulb from overheating. Unless you get new tail light assemblies or patch it up correctly, you're going to burn out every bulb you put back in there.

I get that part. I understand why the bulb is blowing out. I get the fact that "Water + Light Bulb = Bad". What I don't understand, however; is why, after everything has been dried out, sealed and bulbs replaced, do my brake lights not work. I have tail lights, turn signals and reverse lights. The brake light in the center of my back window is working, but the two on either side (in the tail light assemblies) are not working. Currently there is no water in the assemblies.

My fuses are good, that was my first guess. We thought maybe he fact that the center bulb in the back window being burnt out wasn't completing some sort of circuit, so we replaced all three lights in that. Still nothing. That one was kind of a shot in the dark.
