95 nissan sentra GXE, 120k miles. During the last four years, it hadn't have any start problem. But after sitting for ten days last month, the engine refused to start. Since there were no sparks out of the ignition wires, so I changed the distributor but the situation stayed same. The battery and fuses are in good condition. Please give me some suggestions about how to fix the problem. Thanks a lot!

If it has no spark, you need to check the coil. Make sure it is getting battery voltage to it. You could have blown a fuse, make sure & check all your fuses. Also, make sure the battery is fully charged. if it is low, it can creat all kinds of problems.

Thanks for the reply! I measured the voltages at the two ports of connector connecting to the primary coil, which had 0.4 volt difference when ignition switch was at "ACC" status. But either terminal had almost 12 volts relative to ground. So could it be a short circuit problem?

It very well could be a short inside of the coil, but I would think more that it would be an open.

My 97' Nissan sentra is also facing the same problem. The mechanic told me that it is the distributor problem. But when he changed it , it was the same. Now he is saying that the engine is flooded. He needs to check more. I don't know what to do ... Kindly advise me what needs to be done.

make sure that there is spark from the coil wire first

Did you replace the cap and rotor with the distributor???????

If you have spark from the coil then either the distributor, cap or rotor is gone in most cases.........
