The Dodge Demon, as you might imagine, is aimed squarely at Mazda’s MX-5, as well as domestic competition from General Motors in the form of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. The rear-driver utilizes DCX’s 2.4-liter “world engine,” which kicks out 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque, routed through a conventional six-speed manual transmission.

It looks as if the Demon has a legitimate shot at production, despite riding on its own platform. Dodge officials first showed us animated images and sketches of the Demon late last year (sadly, we were sworn to embargoed secrecy), but Trevor Creed and friends did allow that they want to build this car very badly, and that if need be, other engines could fit into the car, and that the chassis is being engineered to handle significantly more power.
