| Now that the RX7 passed emissions testing, it is time for POWER. Right now the RX7 is in the middle of a huge project, getting a set of non-sequential twin turbos, bigger intercooler, midpipe, boost controller, and a few other goodies. Here are pictures of the engine bay in its current state, along with a picture of my new favorite product.

| The RX7 got a few new toys this week. The engine management system should make controlling the engine much easier since there wasn't anyway to adjust the stock ECU for the modifications we have thus far. The Apexi Power FC has an idle re-learn mode as well so we can smooth out the lumpy idle due to the street porting on the motor. With the Power FC we will also be able to monitor all of the engine's sensors and solenoids, meaning if anything else is bad that we haven't found yet, we will definitely find it now. The high flow cat was a very nice replacement from the stock converter, and the Racing Beat exhaust is the perfect tone for Mike. He doesn't like the high pitched import sound nor does he like the sound of a straight through exhaust on a Rotary, the RB is perfect.

| Just a quick update: After putting the vehicle together and having idle problems and low vacuum, we decided to rip it back down to the block and inspect for problems. We found several vacuum lines that were already ripped (poor quality tubing) and a wiring harness connector that was mangled. Now we are waiting on a few replacement parts and doing a vacuum line simplification process in the mean time. The diagram for the original factory vacuum diagram is below (65 lines) and then pictured to the right is the simplified version. Should make it much easier to find / trace vacuum problems.

| Sorry no pictures in this update, just wanted to let the people following this page know that the car is on the ground and I've put about 60 miles on it with the new motor so far. We had a few electrical gremlins that plagued the project for 2-3 days, but now everything has worked itself out. Now we get to put 600 miles of low-no boost and no higher than 6k RPMs on the car to break in the motor.

| I appologize for the delay in between updates, I've been busy trying to get this thing in running condition so I can take it out for a spin. The motor is back in the car, and all bolted up to the transmission. We have started it several times and it fired up on the first crank. The engine is seeing great vacuum at 15-16psi at idle, the only problem is transmission related. We can't seem to get it into gear with the engine on, so we assume the pilot bearing wasn't installed correctly or the clutch disk was put on backwards. Either way the transmission has to come down and out so we can take a look. Hopefully we'll have this all buttoned up by this weekend and the car will get on the road.

| The motor is finally assembled and ready to drop back into the RX-7. We are just waiting on our downpipe to show up and we'll stuff that thing back into the car and get it started up.

| All of the parts have arrived, today we will be re-assembling the long block and getting the motor ready to drop back in. Here are a few pictures of some prepped parts:

| The port work (mild street porting) is all done, pics are below:

| With the motor out, it was time to strip it down and check out what was going on inside. Luckily only a few small items were damaged when disassembling the motor. When we got the motor opened up we were able to let out a sigh of relief as the rotor housings, rotors and bearings were all in good shape. We found the source of both oil leaks, and the leaky coolant seal that was causing the motor to puff white smoke. Now it's time to clean it up and start putting it back together.

| The CF RX-7's motor was also in horrible shape, so out it went. It is currently undergoing a full rebuilt/reseal and getting some street porting done. The new motor will go back in with some shiney new parts and a new clutch / lightweight flywheel.

| The CF RX-7's interior was in horrible condition when we picked it up. The previous owner had attempted to convert the interior from tan to black, and went the cheap route spray painting parts. The previous owner also didn't replace the factory tan carpet or seat belts, and when we saw this, we decided to scrap the entire interior and start over with it. Below are the progress pics of the interior gutting, and the final product. Some of the pictures below are of the oil leaks we found and the new battery strapped down.
