Well a buddy of mine wrecked his evo 8:mad: and sold it to me:thumbsup: and the tranny and engine seem great on it so i was thinking on swapping the engine and tranny into my GSX:lol: ......i was wondering if it could be done and is it worth the trouble i searched but couldnt really get a clear enough answer:eyeroll: ......also i can do most of the labor so thats not much trouble......

Yes it can be done and here's a link to make the evo 8 ecu work in the 2nd gen

is it just bolt on or would i need to do some work on the car other than the ecu
dont get me wrong.
isnt the evo 8 motor basically the same as a GSX motor?
i dont know my 4Gs that well i guess :S
its just turbo and injector upgrades right?

GSX is 1 or 2 gen. Evo 8 is 8th gen evo.

yes but the evo has a better head design and no crankwalk and a bigger stock turbo and a better transfer case and transmission.

ok so would all this go well with the eclipse

Wait, what?
No this will not work! And why?!? When both the 1g AND 2g are proven. I would sell everything you have on that car, and put that money towards the GSX.
It would be as smart as the genius I see buying JDM motors and bolting them in. When in the end, they lose the Cyclone IM in favor of a high-end SMIM and rework the bottom end with new guts.
I say again, THIS WILL NOT WORK (without a SH*T LOAD of money thrown at it).

Ok that sounds good.....I paid 6500 for the car and all the components work except the top is smashed in and the rear quater panel has major damage but it still runs....i think it would be worth more as parts than it would ever be...one more question would i be able to use that turbo that it has or would it be to much for my stock 4g63 or can i salvage other parts.... you know

I'd get the evo fixed and drive that. Evo > GSX

Yeah i thought the same but it basicly has no rear axle and the top is smashed in kuz it rolled over

Nope, I bought one in anticipation for using it. But it can not bolt up.
What you can use is:
560cc Injectors,
fuel pump,
ECU,
Camshafts (with modification).

yeah this isnt even close to being a drop in swap, if you guys havent noticed here is an eclipses engine bay...
Notice how the cams are facing the drivers side and the trans is on the passenger side.

The funny thing about this swap is it possible, but instead of actually wanting a GST or a GSX like mostly everyone out there gets and then says how easy is it to swap a turbo and manual awd in my automatic RS, it actually helps to have the non turbo model, because the 420A mounts sit perfectly for the evo8 swap

Want a sleeper? Go with a Galant VR-4, or Dodge/Mitsubishi Colt GT. Hell, one guy even Turbo AWD'ed a Mirage. Essentially making his own EVO II. Google Lil' Evo.

you are still going to have major fab work because the models with 420a never came with any of the other shit for the awd, most people dont even consider doing a normal 6 bolt 4g63 awd swap into a base model not worth it, swapping the evo engine in just exaggerates all the existing points of it not being worth it.

I second this. I actually helped swap an AWD drive train into an Eclipse Spyder. I didn't do much because it was like a 2 hour drive and the needed me to help disassemble the front end, but nonetheless I had my hands on the during the transformation.

Not worth it, but who's to say putting a turbo on a honda is worth it?
Can it be done..Yes...Is it worth it...deff not
Fab work isn't expensive when you do it yourself, just time consuming.

my cuz has a 4 door, and i want to 4G63 the SHIT out of it.

No they never made them, people have just converted them...It's not that common because why would you want the extra weight of a convertible...It's like taking a convertible 5.0 mustang and turning into a drag car..it's not very logical
