Mitsubishi Evo 10 vs BMW 135i (http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-09/07-17-09page-Mitsubishi-Evo-10-vs-BMW-135i.htm) review by Top Gear Australia. Both cars are awesome.

I'm thinking my next car will be the 135 I'm a big fan and it'll perform better than the M with mods with that extra cash you saved

it already performs better than an m, at least the sedan m3 anyway.

"2009 135i 1/4 mile and 0-60 (http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-135i-Timeslip-18068.html)
and
2009 m3 coupe 1/4 mile and 0-60 (http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-M3-Timeslip-14531.html)
^here you can see that the new m3 is slightly faster than the 135i, but that's the coupe, not the sedan. I couldn't find the 1/4 mile times for the 2009 sedan, and I couldn't find any bmw times, but here are the times for the 2008 coupe and sedans for comparison.
2008 m3 coupe 1/4 mile and 0-60 (http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-M3-Timeslip-17010.html)
2008 m3 sedan 1/4 mile and 0-60 (http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-M3-Timeslip-15262.html)
as you can see, the difference between the sedan and coupe time is about .3 sec, far less than the 0.019 difference between the 2009 m3 coupe and 135i. as such I say it's safe to assume that the 135i is faster than any stock m3 sedan.
and it's already faster than any m3 before 2009.
0.019 difference, yet a heck load more hp, 414 hp for the m3, 350 for the 135i, why is that?
weight."

-from an email I sent to my friend w/ the 135i.

that 135i wasn't completely stock though. with just slight mods on a turbo'd car makes a decent difference

Why is that a dumb thing? If you have the money why not go for the M3 spending the same 3000 on the M3 as you would with the 135i gets you to about 420-440HP which is enough power to over take a M5. And from what I have heard 135's and the 335's dont last very long once you go over 375HP or so.
