i dont think it it would bolt right up, you'd need all the axles/driveshaft and the rear suspention peices may be different... dan?

suspention isn't too tough to fabricate from nothing but 1 1'4 inch tubing right?...wait...no thats a bitch...umm don't do it

You will be better off buying a GSX. Why go with a GS? ???
They are not that expensive. I would also recomend going with a g1 (90-94). the 95 is the start of the infamous crank walk.
g1's can be had anywhere from 3000 down to 500 bucks.

WHy the hell would you want to do that.  that wasnt a question by the way.  gs is non turbo 2 wheel drive, gsx is all wheel drive turbo.  gs+gsx motor, tranny, axles, modifying and everything will run you WWAAAYYY over the time andm oney of buying a gsx.
oh.  and ou can just buy a 6 bolt and not have to worry about the infamous crank walk(which isnt a problem in most eclipses)  ;D   ;D  ;D

what do you mean buy a "6 bolt" . I just spend a thousand dollars rebuilding my engine because a broken timing belt, and dont want no major problems, so can you explain the 6 bolt thing you were talking about, do i need to get that before something bad happens again?

the 6 bolt was the 4g63 that came in 1g DSM's and is the strongest of all the DSM 4g63's with no crank walk problem. the 7 bolt motors were the ones that had the crank walk problem i belive

very good, 89-92.5 4g63s had a 6 bolt flywheel in the motor.  7 bolt motors sometimes have some crankwalk problems

Crankwalk on the 2g eclipses are easily fixed. New thrust bearings and bam, no more crankwalk...... 8)

all i know is that the gsx can make a mighty fine sleeper with proper tuning.

Since when did ANY eclipse be EVER labled as a Sleeper?

Yeah, Iven ever really seen a sleeper eclipse, unless you mean like completely stock exterior.  The real mitsu sleeper is a Galant VR4.  too bad they were soo heavy

Never seen a sleeper eclipse...dont get out much huh....most people dont think much about an eclipse unless its on slicks and being towed to a track...Its just not a penacle of performance type of car...
Going back to the original question that I seemed to have missed...yes you can "convert" it to awd..but you will need ALOT more than just a trans and engine...what about a driveshaft, new half shafts, completely different rear suspension etc.....By the time you do the conversion, you could have bought a gsx and put a few mods on it, and still come out cheaper..and with a whole lot less hassle.

You would also need to get the ecu from a gsx.
