Anyone aware of or know of someone who also has diagnosed what could be causing their Chevy Prizm's signals to flash fast? I troubleshoot by replacing all new bulbs and already took it to Chevy. I narrowed it down to a problem with the SUPER relay that controls all of the signal flasher bulbs. Some cars come with one, some with two.
The Chevy Prizm has one "super flasher relay" control with four prongs.
I have a background in electronics having been mentored by my dad, who was an hardware electronics technician for many decades. So, I know it something to do with the innerworking circuitry that became defective leaving the internal circuit control in the relay module one side of the car but not the other side of the car affected by rapid blinking of the signal flashing. Since both front and back flash so fast, they are very dim.
According to the chevy dealer, the original, and I do mean original, OEM part by Toyota and under the Toyota name is discontinued, but I need the genuine replacement, because the generic aftermarket OEM is not the correct electronic circuit configuation inside the circuit board, because when it is plugged in, no lights are powered for signaling at all.
So, this leaves me with trying to find some supplier that still has leftover overstock or surplus of unused relays. Need to be unused, because not sure how much life they would have left in them.
Any new ones available would not have their life spent.
One new one could be defective. But I plan on purchasing two.
If anyone knows where I can find this exact replacement with the "toyota" name brand on the relay module, please let me know.
the module would read exactly as follows:
toyota tridon 81980-ac030
Max 4 signal bulbs
2X
2X
12.8 Volts
And is a gray module, not the new black generic ones.
It was still manufactured by Tridon today, but I don't want the new aftermarket....again this new one has a different configuration.
The original Toyota built OEM gray module has an extended plastic hood which extends out past the prongs with the 4 plug prongs deep inside the long plastic "hood" or case of the module.
Without showing a picture it is hard to illustrate. But if you had a chevy prizm, or someone you know had one who had to replace it, you will know.
Thanks for your help if anyone knows!!!!
