I just bought a 98 chev cavalier here in costa rica and while driving over a pass here I noticed the temp went from just over norm to way below norm depending on if driving up or down the pass.....it seams someone pulled the thermostat.....sound right??....and is this a quick fix....also the car doesnt idle well....maybe the auto choke effected by thermostat missing.....???any ideas

well without the thermostat the motor would over heat. but the idle problems proably are not from the thermostat thats another issue. without the thermostat i guess there could be more anti freezing free flowing into the block but your car wouldbe over heating

I doubt someone took the thermostat out.
