I'm looking to buy a used eclipse and was wondering which year and model had the highest stock HP and which year and model was able to attain the highest modified HP with mods.    thanks for the help!

i agree, a late model gsx (awd turbo model) would be the best choice but ive heard many a time the gst (fwd turbo model) is better at almost everything bar off the line jump, i pretty shure the gsx and gst (the only turbo models) where both about 210-220hp, and both are highly tuneable, if your planning for a high power car id think the gst would be better, i cant see the awd version having a very stout rear end and if it gets too powerfull youd prolly blow the stock diff, but im guessing your just thinking about a daily driver that you can throw a couple mods on and in that case you prolly wouldnt have to worry about it, youd ahve to ask supercell about that to be shure tho hes the eclipse man :)
Get an American V8 and it'll be much faster.  Dammit.

Oh yes, the ford junkie has spoken again.
Yes hun, by all means get an American POS with a nice no-brainer v8, but then go park it on the side of the road 10 miles from your house and start walkin' ur happy ass home! So as to get in good shape for when it acutlly leaves you stranded. In case you forget your cell...you know...just be prepaired.
No offence to anyone, i just happen to not like american cars. ;) Im sure they have their purpose, and i will give anyone props who can outrun/tie me in the 1/4 with a American car..neon, mustang, what have you, you deserve the praise. But until that happends...ehm...no. :-X
None of this was directed towards you paul, im sure ur daytona is loverly, n i cant wait to drive it. ;) LOL

i have actually tuned a gst that is putting 380hp to the wheels you jack as s, and your stock mustang wouldn't stand a chance againt this car, so shut up abour your v8. yes i like them, but stop putting people down. i meen for the love of god, what are you trying to compensate for??
anyhow, the eclipse is a great car to build and has lots of potential with a large aftermarket.  good luck and happy tuning. if you have any quesitions feel free to ask.

i was looking at a 91 gsx, but now have found a 95 gst...i'm going for the gst and will be crawling these boards as soon as I get my baby...! its great, my goal is to mod my car enough to beat my boyfriends pussy ass 91 accord...lol (but a 95 gst has more HP than his modded accord any day...buahahahah)
thanks for confirming what i thought

Nah if you were going to get an american car, don't make it a ford, lol j/k. i would get a GSX, my g/f's sisters boyfriend has one i help him w/ it from time to time. pro's = better weight transfer, AWD vs FWD i'd take AWD any day. both easily modable. but i would get the GSX over a GST

crank walk is no laughing matter, many people have put mucho denero into their eclipse engine only to find out some miles down the road its about to go...

yeah, that's the kinda thing you're supposed to think of before you put like 30 pounds of boost through your stock bottom end....

Well, I finally got my baby. She's a 95 GS-T...my boyfriend and I think she's been raced, or wrecked before, but I'm not all that concerned, there are all new belts, and a brand freaking new turbo, so I'm content.
If anyone is interested in reading all about her and seeing her, check out http://www.allshow_allgo.onlineshowoff.com
She runs great, and I can't wait to get some money to start the mods. I think the first thing to go is that three-tone, silver paint. Unforunately, she got hit Friday afternoon by our next door neighbour. His insurance is gonna grab the charges, and the front right panel and headlamp is screwed....but ....I may be able to get a new paint job out of it.

not jsut on the stock bottom end either, build eclipses have the same problem, something to do with the oil squirters
