The K&N is a paper filter, we recommend the weapon R Foam Filter.  The AEM Intake as well as the other intakes can be purchased here:

ummm, last time i checked K&N was best known for their steel mesh/cotton gauze serviceable air filters  that flow better than foam or paper, but don't pick up as much airborne contaminants.

they actually aren't that spectacular over other filters of the same filtration ability.  There really is no way to get better filtration with better flow at the same time.  I'd suggest a massive cowl induction on your hood and a straight shot to the turbo.  Just keep the turbine impellor blades sharp and they will chop up any debris.

We have tried this test many times. テつ*We make custom intakes for cars that are not so high in demand. テつ*We have used foam filters on some of these older model cars and a check engine light pops up and the engine doesn't run smooth, the code shows too much air. テつ*So we put on a paper filter and the check engine light goes away. テつ*This has happend quite a few times, which shows the foam filter allowing more air flow. テつ*I also state that the foam filters better, because when putting the paper filter up to a light you can see pretty large sized holes, (The holes are still pretty small, but you can see straight through the filter) when you place the foam filter up to a light you can not see out the other side, meaning the filter has more fine holes. テつ*
