What would be the best place to buy a cold air induction kit for a 99 eclipse

I have an AEM cold-air intake on my eclipse. It's great. Noticable gain in horspower and it roars in the high rpm's.

same here AEM cold air intake is the way to go. NEVER buy a plastic intake system ALWAYS get a metal one

yup.

Actually, the plastic ones retain less heat and help keep the air cooler by doing so..

Yea plastic is better but then again most arent plastic they are a mix of many different things.

Well actually, metal can be a much better heat dissapator than plastic, if designed properly. The current metal intakes do not dissapate heat because they are not intended to. But simple modifications could be made to use the flow of air over metal plates to act as a heat sink.

Anything can be made better but you have a good point.

Depends on what air flow you are talking about...having a heat sink that is cooled by the air in the intake, would cool the tube down..and heat the incoming air up..having a heatsink cooled by the cooler air outside is only goin to cool the intake close to the filter, where its already cool. Having on in the engine bay, where it needs to be, its goin to be heated by the engine, unless you reroute the fan air to blow on it...thats talkin $$$.  I'm sure it can be designed to be cooled by air close to the filter, and made to cool the intake close to the throttle body, but it would be kinda awkward and not effective enough for the money it would cost for it

Which is why it hasn't been produced yet....though i'm sure, with a little R&D, you could find a relatively cheap way of cooling both the intake air and the air surrounding the tube using heat sinks, or any other inexpensive means.
What about Y-splitting the air conditioner exhaust tube, lol.

sounds like a plan to me. To the drawing board..lol

my head hurts.
what if you just put a WRX style scoop on your hood and rought outside cool air onto the entire engine including the intake??    it makes more air than a fan, look ok, and cools the entire engine....

And I thought I was the only person that had ever thought of that.  After my boyfriends theory that running the air conditioner could possibly INCREASE hp
::) I told him to run it full blast and connect the AC Exhaust straight into his Weapon R intake, like a ram air induction setup. He laughed, but I still wanna try it.

just loose the hood everything will stay cool then :)

Actually, no..it wont work like that and the hp taken away by the a/c when compared to the few degrees it would cool the intake charge at the throttlebody/ the work it would take to do such a mod make it a pointless venture...and as a "Ram Air" setup..you would have to have a blower strong enough to truly force the air..then you would have to look at evaporator effeciencies..because the over load of air wouldnt be cooled much by a stock evaporator...then the condensor would have to be upgraded to remove the heat from the refrigerant due to the increase caused by the larger evaporator..etc...so no..this idea stinks... :P

yes, it stinks. but what about removing your head lights and makeing an induction system start there?? like a race car..hmm..

i saw an ehhem "interesting" idea a while back, it was a crx with a cold air intake but the bumper was literaly ripped off there where peices still attached and the intake was sticking out the front :)

bmw actually makes an induction to replace one of the headlights for people who are into track racing.

SO there you have it..sell the eclipse and buy a bimmer..then you can do a professional OEM headlight intake conversion 8)
