??? well here is my dilema.... i have a 96' eclipse rs...cold air intake, headers, exaust, plugs + wires, high compression pistons. i want to upgrade to either turbo or nos maybe even both, but either way i've heard that the engine will get torn inside out. nos will just eat up piston rings. and turbo will give it a bad knock and turbo lagg will be like hell. so what should i do guys? leave it like it is? or take a chance and blow my engine up? i need advice!

I say rebuild the engine, just a suggestion before doing the turbo.  Eclipses  dont have great reliability with turbos and i have heard the same thing but as usual tuner would be best choice tell them what u want and they will tell you how to start.

well....i have rebuilt the engine 3 times. thats why i have high compression pistons now. i do know in order to get turbo you need low compression pistons... but i looked at them and it just seems to me that the piston arm will snap like a twigg. and who is turner? or what? and which is faster for the eclipse nos or turbo. will nos beat a turbo?

NOS will beat turbo pound for pound, but not as efficent and effective for the street use, gotta keep buying NOS, O2 in air is freeeeeee.  Plus NOS can be damaging to an engines internals, as can turbos but you have more of a safety net with a turbo.

It all depends...I have both on my eclipse. Which I built myself. It all starts with the bottom end. Depending on how much boost you want to run and what kinda shot of nitrous you wish to use. I have a forged crank, H-beam connecting rods, 8.5:1 compression. As far as rings are concerned, it has to do with how much space you set them at intially, which you set according to how you plan to use the engine..N/A, turbo, supercharger, etc. Gereral rule of thumb for forced air it right around .007" for every inch of bore, which N/A is around .003" for every inch of bore, which is why people burn up the rings on thier stock set-up. Im only running 8psi of boost with 10psi at max output right around 7400 rpm. I also run a 75 dual stage N2O kit from Zex. Not that much, but enough to prove my point when I need to. I have right around 380+ hp with this set up. But I also have ALOT of head work done to it, cam, valves, valve springs, thermal coated intake, ice intercooler, 26lb injectors, computer, etc...so it all depends on how far you want to go with it, but no matter what..it starts with your bottom end
