After some deliberation I've decided that an Evo X is on my shopping list, so I've come here to see what everyone else thinks.

I've never driven a standard transmission before, but I'm willing to learn and have access to some vehicles to learn on before I make a purchase. I suppose I will never truly know until I get on the road and try it out, but let's just say my preference would probably be to go with the MR in lue of the GSR.

So how does the MR compare to the GSR? Would it be worth learning how to drive stick to go with the GSR?

Another question is on aftermarket parts. I've never modified any of my cars, but the idea seems pretty fun to me. Squeezing more performance out of a car like the Evo just seems like a natural thing to do. So, questions. Where would a good place to browse aftermarket parts for the Evo? How do aftermarket parts affect warranties? Any legalities I should know about aftermarket parts?

I suppose the decision between MR and GSR also depends on the aftermarket situation. How much torque can the two different transmissions handle at the flywheel before risking breaking anything? When should the transmission be upgraded? CAN the MR's transmission be upgraded?

Keep the Cat on there, check out buschur racing, and you can get a paddle shited automatic for it.

Yes and though I have yet to try them out. I heard GREAT things about the paddle shifters on the EVO.

The Evo X is a great car just alittle bit overpriced IMO. As far as modd's go it depends on high much HP you want to get to, under 330HP get the MR, if its over that get the GSR I have not heard of good things in the MR after 350HP. The trans in the MR is a good trans, very fast shifting for a 35k car and the AWD system makes a novice seem like they have some skill.
