Hi, I'm new to these forums and would like to as a few questions of you guys. I recently bought a 2000 chevy s10 v6 4.3 ltrs, ext cab and a 2006 buick rainier v8 5 something ltr. For the S10 I already bought a K&N filter for it and would like to know the best bang for the buck upgrades I can do for it. I am looking for a little bit of performance, but mostly looking for better gas mileage and such. I was told to get a new exhaust from the cat back. I was also told to get a new fan for the radiator that doesn't run off the engine or something akin to that. Any suggestions that won't break the bank or could someone let me know the validity of these upgrades? I'm not looking to spend more than 1k in all. also, would just getting a new muffler help? That would save alot of cash I believe. Thanks guys/gals!

They want you to get an electric fan, a junkyard ford taurus one usually does it. Just google the how to. As for MPG, change all your fluids for synthetics, grease (and replace as needed) all greaseable fittings, bearings, etc on the truck, and last but not least give it a killer wax job.

u could maybe turbo it, like the gmc syclone

That's not exactly something done on the cheap, nor does the syclone/typhoon setup swap over easily (not to mention, incredibly cost ineffective).

For the S10...LS1 for the Buick....a male driver between 30 and 50.

I thought you meant there was a how to video on the electric fan. Doh!

i see. thats why i said maybe u could turbo it, cause i don't really know anything about it. i had just heard about the gmc syclone being turb so i thought maybe u could swap

If you really wanted to you could get an electric water pump and put V belt brackets on it, find the brackets from a junkyard off any GM V8 or 4.3 V6 or get new ones...
You could get a fuel saving cam too, that would require some computer reprogramming though
the last thing i could suggest is getting lower gearing for the 10 bolt.. but that would definatly break your bank

These arent very streetable mods.
The best bank for buck is always going to be some kind of "power adder".
Nitrous, turbo, or supercharger. A lot of turbos can be used on a number of vehicles which means they can usually be obtained cheaply from a number of junkyard cars. Hit up some S10 forums and see if you cant pick up a small one.

The Cam is the simplest you'll get a little more power but mostly just better gas millage, with the computer reprogrammed for it you wont see much of a difference, though it'll sound a less aggressive
the axle swap will cost the most and kill your off the line start and acceleration, but it'll give you a lot better millage when you're cruising or on the highway, I'd only suggest that if you don't tow anything and drive on the highway a lot
if you want a lot more power... take the engine out of the Buick and put it in the S10, its a lot of fun and honestly not that hard

Hey dumbass nitrous isn't very "streetable" either. Why are you telling him to rice his S-10 when he can get the same results without a blower?
Thatotherguy is right about what he's saying.
