I was looking to buy an 05 Malibu, but have heard there have been problems with the steering shaft making noises etc.

1) For you owners of this car - have you had this problem?

2) Anyone know if it's just related to the classic or new version?

3) Any other problems I should know about?

4) If for any strange reason someone knows: Is there a rough estimate percentage-wise on how many malibus are effected by the steering problem? (ie about 1/10 or nearly all of them)

Ford did not issue a recall for it, so the percentage affected by this problem may be small. (i haven't heard of it)
