Challenger SRT8 (http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-09/04-27-09page-Camaro-SS-vs-Challenger-SRT8.htm) vs Camaro SS (http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-09/04-27-09page-Camaro-SS-vs-Challenger-SRT8.htm) First none magazine drag race.

Either the giuy in the Camaro has a horrible reaction time, or the SRT-8 red lighted. Either way, both cars had dissapointing results. xD

Put good drivers in each car and both will run high 12's. The fastest stock challenger I have heard is the 6speed manual version with drag radials that ran around a 12.75 at 111mph. I have not heard yet of a camaro SS getting under 12.90's. As long as both cars 60' time is around 1.95 or lower they will run 12's.

Maro R/T did suck. LOL. Definitely disappointing results, though.

After college, SS sounds nice. I should have pretty much everything in line by then to afford a nice new car. SS FTMFW!

GM has smeared the SS badge with poo. It started with the damn cavelier, and is only getting worse. Is this all they can come up with for an SS Camaro?

I completely agree with that. One of my favorite quotes is "any car can be an ss, but only a camaro can be a Z28"

I was waiting for that question. Seriously, I think the TBSS was worthy. To make an SUV run 13s totally stock is sick. To make a camaro, or any car, and have it run the same time or slower, is making GM look like idiots.

It should set standards that are apart from other vehicles. The cavalier was just stupid, the Impala was lame (Cool car, but slow as hell, should have been something like an LTZ or something), Monte Carlo etc, all not worthy of the SS badge. Hell, the SS pick up truck was a joke too. It was nothing more than an amped up truck engine, with 345hp and was a dog compared to the TBSS.

i defently wouldn't buy it since it's another $8k over the price of the G8, plus you need certain features on the G8 or slp won't do it.

Yup, it housed an LS2. With a tune, cat back and induction, they were up to about 445hp.

Unfortunately, after the TBSS came out, Jeep released the SRT-8 Cherokee. The issue is that GM was first to come out with their SUV, so Jeep knew what they had to do to beat it in performance. Reguardless, the sad thing is, if it were the other way around, GM wouldn't have changed a thing, because they always half ass stuff anyway. If I were to recommend a TBSS to someone not in the north, I would advise to stay away from the AWD. The 2WDs were hitting 12s with just a tune, induction and slicks.

Yeah the SS had two flaws IMO. 1. was that it had a 4speed, and the other was the interior seemed pretty cheap compared to the Jeep. Sure the Jeep was more expensive but the Jeep was about 1second faster in the 1/4mile, and had a much better interior and I think looked better. But I don't know why Chevy just didn't take the lead over the jeep by putting in the newer LS3 with a 6-speed trans, it would have been just as fast and get much better mpg's.

That's right! I knew there was something I was forgetting. The 4 speed tranny in the TBSS was HORRIBLE. The gears just weren't tight enough and the shift points were poop. Even after having it tuned for better shift points, it was better, but was still no match for the SRT-8's 6 speed.

The reason chevy did that was because of the towing ability. The TBSS was still able to tow due to the tranny, but the SRT-8 was not

Yeah thats the one thing I remember when I test drove one that the trans felt like you were thrown into the next gear. And the Jeep had a 5speed trans with very short gears 3rd topped out at 101mph, 105mph if the engine was tuned, the jeep could have really used 6speed though then would do better then the horrible 15mpg on the freakin HW! And the Jeep could tow you had to order a special tow hitch from jeep because of the way the exhaust is setup. I think it could tow up to 3500pounds its just not recommended.

It's a shame GM isn't making a new Z28 Camaro. They discontinued the most successful thing they had going; the performance division.
