on Gen III stuff. I was going to build a 302 for my Z. I got the block and heads, was about to buy a crank rods rings and slugs. Anyway, I was talking shop with a guy I know, he has a running 4.8 liter. Did some homework and stock they make around 285 hp. Not bad. Here is the kicker, I have a 9inch he wants and a set of rims and tires. He wants to trade. Sounds good to me. So this got me to thinking, maybe I stab the 4.8 in the Z. Problem, this engine was never mated to a stick, which it will if it goes in my car. Is there a 5speed out there that will work? Figured I would give yall a crack at it before I start digging around. Please dont say T-56 6 speed. Its too big, id have to cut up to much floor to get it to fit and I dont need two over drives. I might change the heads and the cam in the 4.8 liter and push around 350-385 hp out of it. Id be happy with that so the trans doesn't have to be as stout as a mule's ass.
