I have a 1997 cavalier and my wiper blades are stuck in the vertical positon. I replaced the wiper motor, but they still stop in the same place. Is there a relay or anything else that could possibly be wrong?

When you replaced the wiper motor,you probably got the wiper motor and wipers out of phase.Unhook the wipers from the motor,turn the wiper motor ON,then to the OFF position.Now position the wipers in the OFF position,and recouple the wipers to the motor.

they are stuck in the up position now even thou i replaced the motor. I've turned it on/delay/off...etc and they work fine when on, but when i turn it off they still return to the vertical position. is there a relay or anything else that could be bad other than the motor itself? I got it off ebay b/c they are outrageous to get one from an auto parts store

See my last post.Unhook the wipers from the motor.PUT the wipers where you want them in the OFF position.Hook the wipers back up to the motor.Is it also possible that the splines on your wiper mechanism are stripped or partially stripped?

i have the wipers completely off and just hook the motor and the other portion of the wiper system up to it so i can see where they stop and start. thats why i was thinking the problem is somwhere else unless i got a bum motor off ebay. i can adjust them to where they will stop at the bottom, only problem with that is when i have them on delay, they will be stuck up in the vertical position until i turn them off again.

flipped it around this mornin and its either up all the time when off or with the gear flipped around it will be up when it on delay. i'm thinking there it is a bad motor or theres something somewhere else that is causing it to stay vertical, but i think it is all within the wiper motor itself.

What was the original problem,that you replaced the wiper motor?

when i cut the wipers off, instead of seating back down at the bottom of the windshield, they go straight vertical and stay there. work perfectly fine other than when they are cut off they go back up to 90 degrees.

i posted some pics on another website and a member on there indicated what piece was broken, looks like i need either the whole assembly or the brass looking piece that connects to the motor
