Did you recently install a "performance exhaust"?

no, everything (engine wise) if factory so far. the only mod is a new intake FILTER only and the muffler was removed and replaced with a straight pipe/tip.

As CRX has stated, that's probably why. An engine works by burning air and fuel to push the piston down, and needs a certain amount of back-pressure on the exhaust to continue pushing that piston down for your low-end torque. By removing the muffler and replacing it with the straight pipe, you removed that backpressure. This means the engine can rev higher, more freely, and will have a little more top-end, but you sacrifice all of your bottom end torque.

thanks! do you have any suggestions on changing this or would the only thing i can do is change the exhaust set up, and would it cause that on any motor because im hoping to do a motor swap either this winter or early next summer.

i hate the use of those words, back pressure. i'd rather say exhaust velocity
either way, before the exhaust bit was told, i was wondering if maybe the car was run hard and had jumped a tooth

The only thing you can do is keep a stock exhaust really. Yes, it will cause roughly the same issue on any motor you can fit in an Eclipse. People install "performance" exhaust systems, but that's to gain top-end and high-revving horsepower, at the sacrifice of low-end torque.

Agreed. Even a turbo model has problems with low end torque. It's called turbo lag.

How much extra weight do you have in it w/stereo equipment, aftermarket dubs, body kits..etc on an otherwise stock N/A engine?

Wrong. All rs model Eclipses are 1.8L mitsubishi engines. The 420a is a 2.0L Daimler-Chrysler engine. The 420a was in a good portion of the GS model eclipses.

wow..4g63 N/A.....
A 4G63T engine is just like a Rotory... All the reliability (none....) and none of the power

look dumbass you are always saying you know about mitsubishis and keep saying im wrong about stuff. you could not even get any 1995 eclipse with a 1.8. only the 420a and the 4g63(4), get your facts straight before you tell me im wrong again.
