Need help with my daughter's 98 Eclipse RS. It has been hard to start in the mornings since the weather has got cooler. She has a new battery. It will start on the first try when I jump it. If she waits till later in the day and the temperture has warmed up the car starts fine on the first try. What do you think might be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

cold bat. have less power, either your batt doesn,t have enough cca, or there is a parasitic draw somewhere, or check aternator, it might not charge enough.

Get a volt meter for the battery. They have small ones that you plug right into your cigarette lighter outlet. They are only $11-12 at autozone or any other auto store. It'll show you if you alternator is working effectively. When you start the car the volt meter should be between 13.4 and 14.1+ if the alternator is working well. If the engine is off, and the key is turned to accessory mode, the meter might read as low as 12.1.

If you can, get a digital multimeter (voltmeter+ammeter+ohmmeter). If/when you get this, let me know and I can help you determine exactly what your problem is.
