i just recently purchased my caddy. i need to invest some money to get it running right...runs poorly... after running for a short while the catalytic converter turns cherry red ...almost where it looks like it going to explode...and very bad hesitation...no power going up hill...do these problems go hand in hand... ANY SUGGESTIONS?????????

Agreed. Your catalytic converter is very clogged. Start by replacing it then go from there. But I am almost certain that is what is causing your present issue.

The back-pressure caused by the plugged catalytic converter is causing the engine to not be able to get exhaust gasses out of the combustion chamber in time for the next spark. So - replacing the cat should fix most of your problems with the car. You may have to replace it and have a GM tech clear the computer of any codes, and it should be fine.
