As my other thread , im thinkin bout buying a 1997 eclipse spyder gst convertible.

7bolts are bad. The easiest way is to ask the previous owner if they've had it swapped. Most likely, if this is some kid's car that daddy bought him...its not swapped.
If you want to learn about the differences in engines check out or any other questions, check out www.dsm.org, www.dsmtalk.com, and www.vfaq.com and research.

If you can, take a picture of the engine bay and I could tell you if its a 6bolt or 7bolt right away.

Yep. stock 7 bolt except for the ricey BOV.
Its on eBay:

lol. I like how he list the "Mitsubishi Front Window Decal" as a mod.
Go for it. The car is still pretty much stock. It doesn't have any decent mods that would really effect the car. Be careful with a dropped car. I guarantee thats what happened to his cracked from bumper. Stock height, the front bumper hangs wicked low. With a 2" drop, that bumper is almost on the ground. If you buy it, I'd say get rid of the drop and put stock springs on it. Its difficult driving a lowered car. Parking lots, driver ways, potholes, and speedbumps can kill ya. Thats why my car is still at stock ride height. I scrap a ton of sh*t without being lowered! lol

I'd say its worth maybe $3k to me. But to you, it may be a different story. If you want to know what price you SHOULD be paying for it, check out kbb.com

If you get it take off the BOV and put a 1g or greddy BOV on it you will get alot better performance out of it.

LMFAO!!! WTF performance are you going to get out of a BOV? That is such a rice thing to do to a stock engine.

Crushed 1g BOV or a decent recirculating aftermarket BOV such as HKS SSQV will help hold boost better, even at stock boost. 2g BOVs (and that crappy one already on the car) hold boost very poorly. A 2g bov is made of plastic. It stinks. Its not a ricer thing to do, esp is he ever plans on doing anything with the car. Putting a quality BOV (one that can be recirculated) will help his car all around.

Shows how little you know about these cars.
The BOV NEEDS to be recirculated. If not then the engine is loosing air that it thought was going to be there and puts fuel in there to match it. With it vented you run extremely rich on the shift. The XS RFL-H BOV can not be recirculatd because of the horned outlet. I'm pretty sure he meant loose the XS BOV and replace it with a 1g or Greddy because those both can be recirulated. Replacing it with the stock OEM one would be a waste of money because it's made of plastic and leaks at 12 psi.
So in both examples, upgrading to the BOV will yield better performance.
