Does anyone have a 1997 eclipse convertible gst or ever rode in 1?
I was wondering if its noisy going down the highway say 60mph. Or when it rains, is it noisy?
Considering its a convertible, and im thinkin about buying it.. i wanna know!Of course, i am going for a test ride soon in it

I own a Mitsubishi too, but there are much better convertibles on the market, unfortunately.

Trust me, they kinda suck. Especially in convertible form.

Well heres the deal, if you really want it that bad, dont let people shape you on your choice of purchase of a car. A few things though, if you want someones opinion. Its a gst, which means its the mits. engine with a turbo + being a convertible + 17 yr old driving it = really bad insurance rates. If money isnt your concern, then dont worry about it. Other thing, the standard ones arent that fast and controllable, the conv. is even worse, so there you go.

AWD swap it! My only issue with the GST spyder (or any GST or reg TSi) is its FWD. I prefer to find AWD. AWD is better control and a better ride (IMO.) I don't know where you live, so you may not need AWD, but I live in New England and AWD is amazing in winter. lol.
As a first car, its not bad. You'll enjoy it. Make sure you have a nice savings account though, because since its previously modded, something is bound to break. I still say wait for a stock spyder. I'm very wary about buying a PMV (previous modded vehicle.)

I live in new jersey, winters arent bad here, we barely get alot of snow. Maybe 2-3 inches here and there. No mountains etc.Pretty flat here. I live right by the beach.
Im expecting my insurance to already be like 3-3.5k a year. I got a quote from my dads agent on that.
Idc wether its a conv or not, but i like conv. Theres another eclipse in the paper for 3850. Completly stock, 109k miles. 5spd, 1999 eclipse. Not sure what model, wasnt listed.
i just wanted an opinion on how it sounds on the road, or when it rains. Beings it has that kind of top, going down the highway does the wind hit it bad and makes loud noises etc. Thats mainly what i wanna know

wow that much?....my insurance is only 1250 and thats full coverage, but i've also had my license for 2 yrs, but still it started off at 1100 with a 4 door integra then i switched to the eclipse spyder and it only went up 150 a yr
