A little over a week ago I took my truck to a dealership and had my radio/CD player unit pulled from my truck and sent off to have the cd player repaired. It turns out that the black material on the inside of the lid of my arm rest console got real sticky and came off on all of my cd cases and wound up getting on my CDs themselves. My problem was that that stuff got on the laser lens of my CD player and caused the player to totally stop playing. The dealership received my radio/CD player this past Wednesday and I went to have it re-installed. At the time I didn't know that it was that black stuff that tore up the player in the first place. Before I left the dealership on Wednesday I checked my CD player with one of my CDs that just happened to have some of that stuff on it. Now it looks like I have the exact same problem again. I think that stuff got right back on the laser lens again. Instead of going and having the player removed again I was wondering if I could just use a laser lens cleaner disk on it. Any help would be very appreciated.

I would find your local electronics shop that do work on CD players and ask them what to do. In this case, your car player can be treated exactly the same as your house player. Don't talk to the dealer, all they know how to do is run up your bill for something like this. And avoid radio shack, nothing like convience store advice on electronics...

just buy a lens cleaning cd, they are not expencive, any video-gaming store has it.
