I need to replace the 5 speed transaxle in a 2000 Eclipse with the 2.4L 4 cyc. I am having trouble finding one at a resonable price. Does anyone know if I can swap in a trans from a 96 to 99 Eclipse 2.4L or 2.0L??? or a 2002 to 2006 2.4L trans.

If I can swap in the older or newer trans what mods need to be made?

look for markings, a code, on the transmission itself. if it matches one from a newer or older 5-speed, it should work (so long as it fits and bolts up correctly).
