I was driving my 2005 Chevy Equinox to lunch today and missed my road so I pulled a "U"ey. Not long after that I noticed that my SUV was making a humming/grinding sound at low speeds and when I turn the wheel. It also makes a loud clicking noise like metal hiting metal when I get going faster but then it runs fine after I get moving at about 40. When I am stopped I can turn the wheel with no problems and hit the gas and it sounds perfect. When I shut off my vehicle it now shakes and by my front left wheel. When I start it back again it shakes more violently and sounds terrible. Does anyone has any suggestions what this could be?

Sounds to me like you probably need a new wheel bearing.
