i bought a autometer d-pic performance info center. on my blazer currently i have a set of fog lights that have the power lead, lead to the lights, and body ground. and my gauge comes with power wire, and one that goes to the switch. my question is can i splice the power wire on my autometer to the power wire that leads from the battery to the switch? and the wire on the autometer thats meant to go on a ignition switch to the switch wire for the fog lights. hope this doesnt sound confusing

Yeah I wouldn't use an always on battery lead unless the manual says to do so. If it says to and you do, make sure it's fused within 6 inches of the battery terminal with a proper fuse. I'm assuming that since this is a driving aid, it does not need to be on when the vehicle is off, so I would suggest for safety's sake you feed this unit from a switched (accessory) line, unless the manual indicates otherwise. The less always-hot electrical load you have running around your car the better, as there is less to go wrong when you're away from your vehicle, plus your battery will not drain down as fast when not in use.

well see im going to be wiring everything to the switch that already controls to fog lights so when i turn that off the autometer turns off. but when i want the autometer i have to have the fog lights on. oh well daytime driving lights i guess

Yeah... that's not a good idea. Stick with the proper (and safe) wiring setup. There's also a risk that you're going to put too much load on for the wire feeding that switch and cause an electrical overheat, which could lead to a fire (or a fuse blowing, if you wired it properly).
