Ok so my dad built a 1995 2.2 Cavalier manual as a racecar and the engine locked up first night out. So my question is would the short block from a 1991 2.2 be the same? I heard it won't work because of a crankshaft sensor? Thanks for any info.

first off, why would you use a cavalqueer as a race car???
anyway, no. they're different motors. will it work? if the bellhousing fits the motor, than yeah, you can make it work. will it swap right in? nope.
five gallons of gas and a match.

Yeah why would anyone make a cadaver into a race car. Those car's aren't even worth their weight in scrap metal.

we race them on a circle track against other 4 cy fwd, there are a couple of fast cavaliers, a really fast eclipse, some neons,a zx2, a couple of hondas, a probe and a tercel. The cavaliers hold there own except against the eclipse which is a double over head cam with about 20 more horsepower.

circle track, 4 cyl, fwd, "fast" eclipse......
so its like a combination of a white trash road race and a ricefest?

at my local dirt track they have a fwd drive class and my neighbor has a cavie with a 3.4 v6 except if you do that they require you deactivate one cylinder for some odd reason

I love to watch those FWD circle track races. Its even better on dirt.
I don't see why the short block from a 91 would be much different, worth a try.
