Hi. I am new to this forum. My first question to you all is about an aftermarket (i.e., not from the manufacturer) extended warranty for a used car.

I just bought a 99 Infinity i30 from a local non-Nissan dealership. This car already has 130K, so I am wondering if I should get an aftermarket extended warranty. The finance guy at the dealer suggested one warranty through a company called PRco. It covers engine, transmission, drive axel, and more (see below for more details) for one year or 12K, whichever comes first. The price for this is $800. What do you guys think? I know many people think an extended warranty is a waste of money. But I am a little worry about my car because of the high mileage.

I did a quick search under this forum, but I did not see any recent discussions on this topic. Thanks for your help in advance.

The warranty covers:
1. Engine All internally lubricated parts for rotary, gas and diesel engines; block; cylinder heads and barrels; turbocharger and supercharger housing and internal parts; waste gate and control valve; intercooler; timing belt, chain, gears, tensioner, idler and bolt; balance shaft, belt and bolt; all pulleys and their bolts; harmonic balancer and bolt; cam gear bolt; head bolts; intake and exhaust manifold; mounts; cushions; flex plate; flywheel; ring gears; timing and valve covers; oil filter adapter; oil pan; factory installed oil cooler, metal lines and fittings; dipstick and tube; coolant, lubricant, filters, seals and gaskets required for a covered repair;
Overheating: All of the parts listed above as a result of overheating caused by the failure of a covered part or the head gasket. This coverage applies to You if the covered vehicle has less than 100,001 miles on purchase date, as stated on the Application, and reported to Driver and Motor Vehicle Services as "is the actual mileage." If the covered vehicle has more than 100,000 miles on purchase date or is not actual mileage, this coverage does not apply. See contract for coverage limits.

2. Transmission Case and all internally lubricated parts; external electronic control unit; overdrive unit; torque converter; modulator; mounts; bell housing; external linkage; oil pan; oil cooler, metal cooler lines and fittings; dipstick and tube; lubricant, filters, seals and gaskets required for covered repair.

3. Drive Axle Assembly (Front and Rear) Drive axle case and all internally lubricated parts contained within the front or rear drive axle; thrust washers; drive shaft; "U" joints and yokes; double offset joints; CV joint and bearings; tripod joints and bearings; stub shaft; axle shaft; propeller shaft; center support bearing; locking hubs, hub assembly and bearings; flex disc; differential cover; lubricant, seals and gaskets required for covered repair.

4. Transfer Case Case and all internally lubricated parts; four wheel drive actuator; control module; viscous coupling; mount; shift motor; lubricant, seals and gaskets required for covered repair.

5. Basic Electrical Starter motor, drive and solenoid; alternator.

6. Basic Cooling Water pump; radiator; coolant, seals and gaskets required for covered repair.

7. Basic Fuel System Electric and mechanical fuel pump.

I had problems with Warranty Direct. They don't want to pay up. Then too the Cadillac dealer has STOPPED taking these aftermarket warranties as payment. All I have to say is buyer beware. There was a large one of these companies belly up and therefore left many holding the bag.

Whats the hefty commission to the seller of this warranty? BUYER BEWARE
