I recently had no light to my check engine light, and replaced the whole intrument/indicator panel board. this board is all in one controls turn signals, speedometer, and all gauges. When 1995 part was installed on 1996 Achieva, the check engine light works on this panel, but security light flashes and turns car back to OFF. Does anyone know if I have to reset the computer, and if so how can I do this or do i have to get the instrument panel for 1996.Thanks in advance.

not only you need 1996 panel, you need the panel that came with your car, your key has a build in transmiter, dashboard has reciver, if they don't mach, you get security light, and it shuts off ignition, so fix your panel, or get 96 one and i belive you might need to see dieler, to reprogram sec. modgule.
think, why would check engine light, be out? when i worked at the used car lot, we used to take problem lghts, bulbs out, so you never see check engine light. cuz with it on, you will not buy that car, i suspect you bought it like that? is it the case?

for future reference, when you buy a used car turn ignition on, check if every light comes on, they all do if they weren't messed with.

I have had this car for about 4 years and check engine light did work, that is the first thing I check when purchasing a vehicle. I know that all lights were working and this particular check engine light is an LED embedded on the instrument board that I cannot replace unless like you said to try and repair the circuit board. Would replacement parts from an ODB-1 and ODB-2 be causing this issue?

Does anyone know on where I can find an instrument panel board for this vehicle or where I can send for repairs? Or where I can purchase one for same year of my car.
