gday all i just purchased a close to mint tx gemini coupe on the weekend. it was such a good find i couldnt deny the guy my money.
it is an automatic and i realised the problem when i test drove it but still continued with the buy because it will be a project car.

problem: when the car goes from 1st gear to 2nd it slips into gear with a bit of a heavy jolt or 1st gear will rev out a bit more as if in neutral then change to 2nd( to all comedians the car is in Drive)........ but this does not always happen when driving. i could stop at one stop sign then move on in and it will change fine but say at the next stop sign when moving off it will jolt into gear.
:dunno:
any ideas to this problem? what could it be?

will the engine need a recon to fix?

also i am in perth, West oz and am curious at hwat kind of price range i will be looking at to fix this drama.

one last thing would it be cheaper to put a 5speed manual in?

:bump: for you.

tranny fluid, okay? been changed at all?

considering how old it is, it may be time for a transmission rebuild, but i'm not sure...

yea mate checked the tranny fluid straight away its pink and perfect and smells fine.
im just getting the car serviced at the moment and when they drop the oil maybe that will help in finding out what could be wrong.
i am guessing a recon of the whole engine will be best seeing as the g box is the only thing in the car not running well.
