My husband has a 88 Jeep Comanche that has over 300,000 miles on it. We recently had the entire clutch assembly replaced. Afterwards we started to experience problems with the alternator not charging the battery. We have a brand new battery, the alternator tests out okay and they are saying it is a ground wire problem but they can't seem to find it. Any ideas, thoughts, advice on how to fix this so the alternator will charge????? We would appreciate anything that you could do!

Given your information, I would look for an engine-to-chassis ground strap that may have been disconnected/broken/removed during the clutch work.
You might try running a braided strap between the engine/transmission and the chassis.

Are you talking about the clutch assembly on the alternator (I dunno if they have them or not but AC compressors do) or the clutch on the transmission??? If you're talkin about the transmission, they're probably entirely seperate incidents coincidentally happening one after another. If they cant find the ground wire for your alternator, they're dumbasses and you need to find someone new to work on your car.

I would say it is probably a bad ground strap somewhere if the alternator tests good. Are your battery cables in good shape?
