I always say the ones that just light up are not always right and that the others that are real gages are far more accurate
for example the oil pressure gage is way more accurate than say a light that comes on saying "check engine soon" which i don't call a real gage.
am i right or wrong?

doesn't matter, so long as the meter is accurate.
i guess you're saying gauges are superior to indicators; which could be true. again, just as long as the sender, etc. are functioning properly, it's all good.
i'd prefer an analog gauge for oil pressure and alternator charging, than an indicator that only tells me when something's wrong.

well the oil gage is analog i think.........its just a round gage with a niddle indicating the oil pressure...same with the battery gage.
my wife and i got into a argument because i always tell her to ignore the dash lights untill i can take a look and not to ignore the gages.
she always does whatever the light says that comes on before i get to check it out.

Well, having seperate gauges will give you more of an indication of what's going on, that's obvious. If the argument was that the actual indicator is less accurate, then it's not true. In most cases, it's still accurate in letting you know that something is wrong, you just don't know what.
