hello, i have a 1947 olds and was changing over to 12 volt
i have a new harness i know i need to change all bulbs, but
do i need to use avoltage drop to 6 volts for the gauge's ??
and do i need to chnge starter and all switches,ign,light etc.
do i need to change temp sending unit,
any help would really be appreciated

hmm... I'm not sure about this one. I'm wondering if you just changed your engine guage senders for 12v units, the only thing 6 volt left in the guages would be the guage lights (but I could be entirely wrong) and you'd be able to change those for 12v bulbs as well. I honestly have no idea about the ignition system though.

I too am considering using a 12V on my 47 Caddy. In doing some research it seems that there will be a number of systems to change over. Lighting, starting (selonoid), ignition, and charging. I don't know if you are keeping your ride stock, or rodding it out. This will influance your decision. I have found a place calledAntique Auto Battery. They claim to have a 12 / 6 volt battery. 12 V for starting and 6 V for everything else. It is supposed to come with complete wiring diagrams. I've made a few inquires about this item. So far I have had no response. At any rate Good Luck to you.
