1998 Buick Regal LS Engine dies with turn signals
I have a 1998 Buick Regal LS Engine (Code K) with the following problem. My engine quickly dies when I use either turn signal. My car went through a flood back in 2004 and have had multiple problems. But, my latest is the turn signals killing the engine. I have messed with the gear shifter and found that the gearshift interlock mechanism (small white plastic threaded disk) has fallen off from the shift release solenoid below the shifter assembly. This makes it tough to move the shifter into gear. Also, the solenoid in the steering column gets hot to the touch as I drive (when I do get it to run) . I would appreciate any help here as I have poured some money into this car and I want it to run for another year.

i came across this answer...

That has just about got to be a loose connection, that is barely carying enough power for some systems, and as others are added, it is overloading.

bump for more input, because this is a peculiar problem to me.

I had the exact problem with my 99 Regal. Took it to the dealer and after a couple days with it, they changed out the ignition switch. I have been driving it for about a year now and have had no problems since. Look at changing out the ignition switch.

This was investigated by Joe Dantuono in the article "GM VEHICLES - IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM". Extract: Probing with a voltmeter to the PCM,
BCM U/H RELAY fuse, you could watch the
voltage drop below 10 volts when the turn
signals were activated. Since the Red feed
wire to the switch checked ok, we
determined the voltage drop was in the
switch itself. A switch did fix it.
