"pedal box" meaning "gear box"?
my first guess would be that it may be time to replace the clutch assembly. full service: clutch disc, pressure plate, machined flywheel, along with a new release bearing (if needed), and a new oil seal.
THAT, or maybe your shift cables are worn/broken/have come unattached...

Thanks so much bobby for replying.
Yeah what was happenning is that my gears were getting stuck so i took it to the garage. One garage told me that it was changing clutch and then i took the second opinion from another garage. They said it is not the cluctch but it is the pedal box that is sanpped and will need chnaging. I am quiet naive about cars. They said it will cost me 437 pounds as it takes a lot of time [ abt 7-8 hours labour]to get that all fixed and a years warranty. When i bought my car about 6 months ago i got a platinum warranty with it
I rang the warranty company and they said it will not be covred as it is not mechanical failure. But to me it is as the gears stopped working, it should be a mechanical failure. I want to fight my corner but need some advice as to explain this. The website address will tell you more about what is covered in my warranty.
This is what my warranty says on
Gearbox
All components contained within either manual or automatic transmissions including gears, bearings, clutches.
It will be extreme help if you can guide me on this. I will be highly obliged.

:( http://top5choices.com/-pics-/ukww.jpg:headscrat Well... technically, a gear is only a part which is turned by other gears, so unless the actual part that initially turns these gears is damaged, then they kinda have the jump on you. Sucks, but insurance places make sure they have to cover as little as possible.
