I was wondering what the big diffrence is between the S8 and A8L W12, and if one car is better than the other. Also what is the diffrence between the normal A8 and the S8 besides the engine. And finally, is it worth buying an S8 or A8L W12 over just a normal A8.

The new S8 has a version of the gallardo motor. The performance is pretty close between the S8 and W12 if I remember correctly. The S8 suspension is stiffer I believe.

W12 engine is made merging two Volkswagen V6... It's more compact than a normal V12 an has the same performance. Buy it if you're looking for one of comfortable car

S8 (is AWD) has the V10 Lamborghini engine with little less power (450 Hp). Even suspension and gearshift are from Lamborghini Gallardo. Like a race car..

W12 is a longer wheel base softer riding car (and heavier because of added length and optional appointments).

S8 is a short wheel base with Gallardo V10 that is slightly detuned, stiffer suspension. The tarnny asn drivetrain are not Gallardo, they are all Audi. Remember that a Gallardo is a rear-mid engine configuration. This is a driver car and the W12 is more like a limo class. Both cars are AWD.

Price point is more than $12k difference between W12 and S8. Stop looking at the Hp and engine performance numbers that the magazines feed you. They are both completely different cars built for entirely different applications.

I have owned and tracked Audi's for over 20 years. They are wonderful cars and Audi is the center of German technology that drives Porsche, VW, Bentley, Lambo and Bugatti. They are all well engineered driver oriented cars.

That's my $.02. By the way, I am planning to buy an S8 and an R8 later this year. The S8 will be my daily driver and the R will be the car that I build carbon fiber and stainless steel for.

As to the title post, they are completely different cars, if you're interested in buying one, you need to do a bit more research on your needs.......

A8 w 12 is firts engine for A8 whit 6.0L so i don't think that is very good car. So S 8 is the best choise.

personally if you love going fast screw audis get an m5 but if you like luxery get a8l if you didn't read about it there is a cooler in between 2 passenger seats pretty hot stuff
