Does anyone know how hard it is to replace a water pump on a 99 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE? My certified mechanic has quoted $545 plus tax and I think that is way too high.

I'm not familiar with land rovers but it could be as simple as pulling the apropriate belt off and unbotled the old one and rebolting the new one. Its a pretty invovled process that will take a few hours but its worth saving the money. If you don't have a lot of experience under the hood or have someone close around the help with it I would strongly suggest letting a mechanic fix it. You don't want to get it apart only to find you can't put it back. good luck.
